Yoichi Iida chaired G7 working group meeting on ICT policy, when Japan hosted G7 ICT Ministers’ Meeting in 2016, and proposed international discussion on guidelines on Artificial Intelligence.
He also chaired G20 Digital Economy Task Force (DETF) which prepared for G20 AI Principles based on OECD AI Recommendations. The Principles were approved by ministers at G20 Trade and Digital Economy Ministerial as well as by National Leaders at Osaka Summit.
Since January 2020, he has been taking the chair of OECD Committee on Digital Economy Policy (CDEP), where AI is being discussed as one of the major policy priorities.
Previously, he served at OECD Secretariat from 1991 to 1993 and worked at Japanese Embassy in Bonn, Germany from 1998 to 2001. He joined former Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications in 1988, which was integrated into current Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
