1995: PhD, University of Munich and Max-Planck Institute for Quantum Optics (supervisor Ted Hänsch).
2003 – 2008: Chair Professor at the University of Freiburg
Since 2008: Chair Professor for Experimental Physics at Heidelberg University and Director of the Heidelberg Center for Quantum Dynamics.
2013 – 2018: Adjunct Professor, University of Science and Technology of China.
Since 2019: Vice-Rector for Transfer and Innovation of Heidelberg University.
Scientific interests: Fundamental questions of modern quantum physics on different levels of complexity, using modern methods of quantum control and quantum engineering.
